Happy New Year!

Today is New Year's Eve. Do you have any plans for tonight? What about plans for 2014?

If you haven't thought about what you want to do, or where you want to go in 2014, maybe it's time to set some priorities.

Some people make resolutions, some people make goals. We prefer setting priorities. If you make something a priority, it will keep getting done, even when times are tough. Sometimes 'resolutions' just get forgotten.

So what might your priorities be? They can be as vast as the sand on the seashore, or as simple as a few words. Take some time this week to think about YOUR priorities. Make a list, or at least write something down for YOU to see and to remind you where you wanted to be focused.

I think my priorities will be something like this:

Reading my Bible
Family time
Spending time outdoors

That doesn't mean We won't still be living the same life. We'll still be working, educating the girls and planting a garden. However I want these priorities to help me make good use of my time by staying focused on what really matters. I find it really helps if I can explain my priorities to my husband Kurt. If I can't explain them to him, how can he support me? It also gives him time to tell me what his priorities are for the year. When we work together, things go much smoother!

Of course, there are lots of other noble goals. Are they going to become YOUR priorities for 2014? Maybe you have some; like getting in shape, eating better, or getting out of debt. Those are all things that can guide your daily choices to lead you where you want to go.

Tomorrow begins a new calendar year. Choose to make it a great one!
